OBEDIENCE/AGILITY JUDGES RESUME
LAWRIE KNAUTH
Lawrie commenced training and trailing German Shepherds in 1975. Since then he has trained five German Shepherds. Three of these gained their Utility title, one reaching open title and another to novice before having to retire due to unforeseen events. Of the three that attained Utility standard two have gained the title of Australian Obedience Champion.
Lawrie was a foundation member of the Logan All Breeds Dog Obedience Club and held the position of chief instructor for a total of 13 years and is the current president of the club. He also has his own private training establishment conducting weekly class lessons and private tuition.
Being qualified to judge novice, open, utility, tracking, agility and endurance, Lawrie judged obedience at the Brisbane Royal in 1987,1995 and 1998 and 2002 and 2007 as well as all classes at the Townsville Agricultural Show in 1991,1994 and 1997. Lawrie has judged trials in New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania and the Northern Territory, judging all classes from novice to utility in obedience and novice to Open in agility and jumpers. The highlights of Lawrie’s judging career so far was being appointed to judge the August obedience and agility trials in Singapore in 2002 and 2005 and the German Shepherd Specialty shows in Brisbane and Darwin.
Lawrie is currently training a Rottweiler for obedience and hopes to be in the trial ring in the latter half of 2008. He is looking forward to judging at the Rottweiler National in August.
